Fall is About Snuggling up with a Warm Mug of Golden Milk

Who doesn’t love a mug of warm deliciousness?

Golden Milk is one of my favorite beverages (next to pumpkin spice latte) especially as the weather gets colder. Not only is it delicious, but it’s supportive of the immune system and anti-inflammatory which is why it’s useful for so many things besides a delicious golden treat. Turmeric, the main spice, is considered an antioxidant, anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial and can also help digestion and mood. Isn’t it amazing when we can simply use food that tastes great as medicine?

I like to make a paste that I store in the refrigerator so that whenever I want a warm cup I scoop out what I need so I can have a fast mug of deliciousness!

There are MANY recipes for Golden Milk. This one does not contain any sweetener but I have seen it made with honey or maple syrup. I usually don’t sweeten mine at all but that is an option. You can also add cinnamon, cardamom, or other species you enjoy. I have even added a pumpkin spice blend of organic spices to punch it up a little when I was craving my beloved pumpkin spice flavors.

How to Make Golden Milk

Golden Milk Paste – Use a stainless or glass pot (Can reduce portions of course!)

  • ½ cup organic turmeric powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
  • 5 Tablespoons coconut oil (unrefined if possible)

Combine all ingredients into the pot except for the coconut oil. Stir over low heat and cook for about 8-10 minutes until it thickens. Remove from heat and add the coconut oil, whisking to ensure a good mix. Pour into a sealable jar like a small mason jar. Allow to cool. It can be stored in the refrigerator for at least several weeks.

Gold Milk

  • ½ – 1 teaspoon of golden milk paste (I use a whole teaspoon because I like it strong. 😉
  • 1 cup of milk (I use 1 cup unsweetened Almond or oat milk or ½ cup 100% coconut milk and ½ cup water)
  • Optional – touch of real vanilla extract, honey or cinnamon

In a stainless or glass pot, on low heat, whisk the milk and golden milk paste together along with the vanilla and cinnamon. If adding honey, especially if it’s raw honey, add after it’s off the heat to keep the enzymes intact.
